Who gets the purple cap? – When the IPL started in 2008, the purple cap was introduced, which would be given to the highest wicket taker of the tournament. Throughout the season, the holder of the purple cap will change and whoever is at the top of the wicket-taker list once the season is over will receive a prize in a replica of the purple cap. He will also be given Rs 10 lakh as a reward.
- The Purple Cap is given to the top wicket taker of the season.
- The bowler who has taken the most wickets in the tournament this season will wear a purple cap while on the field.
- In case of tie, the bowler is given a purple cap with higher economy rate.
