FIFA World Cup 2022: FIFA World Cup Qatar tickets ‘cheaper’ than Indian Premier League 2022 tickets
FIFA said on Wednesday that fans had bought 804,186 tickets for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
According to FIFA, interest in tickets comes mainly from countries such as Qatar, the United States, England, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, India, Brazil, Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
According to Indian Express, The cheapest ticket to the World Cup final, the most popular sport in the world, will cost Rs 45,828, which is only Rs 10,000 more than the ticket for the most expensive IPL match.

Ticket sales began April 5 and will continue through April 28. FIFA said the results of the random selection draw would be published by May 31 and the decision on the application would be made through a lottery process.
Tickets for the opening match, except for the opener, have not been so cheap since the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Qatar has gone one step further for locals, charging only 40 QAR (Rs 834) for group stage tickets – the lowest charge for home fans since the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
In Russia, the most expensive ticket cost $ 1100 (Rs 83,509) whereas in Qatar, the final at Lusail Stadium will cost $ 1607 (QAR 5850 / INR 1,22,032). In some cases, prices have risen by as much as 50 percent since the World Cup in Russia.
How to apply for a World Cup 2022 ticket:
- Open an account with fifa.com using an email account, a valid passport and an internationally recognized credit or debit card.
- Once logged in, anyone can apply for any ticket from the opener to the final.
- Fans can purchase four different types of tickets – individual match, team-specific, stadium-specific and accessibility tickets.
- A login will generate a fan ID – which is usually the main sign of entry into the stadium premises in and around Qatar. An ID can apply for six tickets per match and a maximum of 60 tickets for the entire World Cup.
- Applications for tickets can be edited or removed until April 28
- If an application is successful, you must pay for the ticket after May 31.
