Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered a major blow after being ruled out of action for at least a week in Washington Sundar after an injury on Monday. The Indian all-rounder injured his bowling hand while fielding, splitting his webbing between his thumb and forefinger and not playing for the rest of the game. Sundar left the field after bowling just three overs against the Gujarat Titans. Aiden Markram bowled one to finish his spell, which further indicates the severity of his injury.
Speaking at his press conference after the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody confirmed that Sundar is watching the sideline for a minimum of 1-2 weeks. He said “Washington has broken a net in Sundar’s right hand. We’re going to be monitoring this in the next two to three days, and hopefully, it won’t be a significant push. I think it will probably take a week or more to settle down. “

Washington Sundar has been in good form this season, batting hand-in-hand in the lower down order as an alternative to taking wickets in the powerplay. In his absence, SRH may have to tinker with their combination, with Shreyas Gopal and Jagadisha Suchith as alternatives to the bench.
