The 30-year-old leg-spinner was the highest wicket-taker for KKR with 18 wickets in 17 matches last season and has taken just four wickets in five matches this season.

“It simply came to our notice then. I took six to seven wickets in seven matches in the Indian leg last year. Later, I took more wickets, so you can’t guess how many wickets you are going to get. Dr. Chakraborty.
“I am working on a new variation which I am looking forward to bowling more. If it starts clicking well, it will definitely add a new dimension to my game. “ He was speaking ahead of KKR’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday.
Asked about the new changes, he said: “I’m working on leg-spin. I have been working for this for the last two years. I have bowled in a few matches and got a wicket in it.
“I need to be a little more confident (new variation bowling) and start bowling more.”
Injured Chakraborty returned to competitive cricket in the IPL after playing in the T20 World Cup last year when he failed to take a wicket before being sidelined due to a calf injury.

“I was in the NCA for treatment of my injuries. Now this has been resolved very well. I could go on the field without any pain killer. So, I feel fit and it has helped me to have a much better ball. ”
Asked what kind of adjustment he made to the wickets for the batsmen, he said, “Stick to your basic plan, stick to your strength without focusing on the batsmen. So we have to change our mental structure. ”
He considers Rashid Khan, the star of Afghanistan and a player of Gujarat Titans, as the current best spinner in world cricket.
“In cricket, you are bound to get hurt. The best spinner at the moment is Rashid (Khan) and he has even scored runs (in some matches) but he is still the best.
“It happens in a few matches, you have a bad day and you just have to come back.”

He further said that he has a special relationship with his fellow spinner in KKR team, Sunil Narine of West Indies.
“Sunil is like a big brother to me. If I go through a fatless patch he will come up to me and talk to me. He also shared with me personal things for which he was vulnerable.
“For such a legend to talk to me about this kind of thing, to let me know that he is weak and that he leaves even on weak patches and difficult times. So, talking to him gives you confidence and strengthens confidence.
He added that the current competition among Indian leg-spinners does not put any pressure on him in terms of national team space.
“I see it as a healthy competition. I also gave a message to UG, the way he bowled, he is in great form now, Ravi Vishnu is bowling great, Kuldeep is doing very well for his team, Rahul Chahar is great. I like it when a leg spinner does well. ”
