Chasing 152 for victory, Sunrisers lost to Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson but both Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi remained on the scoreboard. Tripathi was on his offensive best scoring run around the field when SRH was chasing.
The Punjab Kings came back into the fray when Rahul hit Chahar twice, dismissing both Tripathi and Abhishek in consecutive overs. However, Nicholas Puran and Aiden Markram bid their time at the crease and formed a strong partnership so that their side could be seen on the line without any hindrance. Markram ended the game on a boundary and remained unbeaten on a maximum of 41, where he hit 35 off 30 balls.

Earlier, Ken Williamson won the sixth toss in a row as Sunrisers Hyderabad sent the Punjab Kings to bat after missing captain Mayank Agarwal due to a toe injury. SRH bowling in the powerplay kept an Uber attacking team in their grip as Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhasimran Singh were both dismissed.
Johnny Bairstow and Jitesh Sharma also did not last long as Punjab dropped to 62/4. Fortunately, Liam Livingstone continued his great form and Shah Rukh Khan gave him a stunning half-century with good company. SRH though brought things back with some neat death over bowling, giving up just 29 runs from the last five overs. Omran Malik was particularly impressive, taking three wickets without a run in the last over.
