The second round of the Madrid Open is already in full swing, with two-time champion Simona Halep and World No. 2 Paula Badosa quickly facing each other after the openers.
Halep made a flying start to his 2022 campaign in the Spanish capital at the Manolo Santana Stadium, defeating Zhang Shuai 6-2, 6-3.
Badosa followed suit on the same court, sweeping the last nine games to beat Veronica Kudarmetova 6-3, 6-0.
