National Sports Championship: The Sports Federation has started looking for Indian contingent for the Asian Games in the National Championship. The much awaited National Sports Championship 2022 (NESC ’22) started on Monday with the Esports Federation of India (ESFI) to select the Indian team for the upcoming 2022 Asian Games. Under the ‘AESF Road to Asian Games’ program, NESC ’22 will run for five popular Esports titles – DOTA 2, Hearthstone, FIFA22, Street Fighter V, and League of Legends. More than 200 top athletes have registered from all over India and the tournament will run till April 24.

Esports has been added as a medal game for the first time in the 2022 Asian Games as the best performers of NESC ’22 will have the opportunity to represent the country in a prestigious multi-ethnic event.

Esports was originally an exhibition game at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, before being confirmed as a medal sport for Hangzhou 2022 in December 2020. The eight medal games are FIFA (created by EA Sports), an Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile and the Arena of Valor, Dota 2, League of Legends, Dream Three Kingdom 2, Hearthstone and Street Fighter V.

NESC ’22 will be conducted online, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, with top athletes from across the country competing and showcasing their skills and techniques.
DOTA 2 and League of Legends will see the participation of 13 and four teams respectively where experienced athletes like Jeet Rajesh Kundra, Moin Ejaz and Samarth Trivedi will compete.

Top singles including Tirtha Mehta (Hearthstone), Siddha Chandarana and Lokmanyu (FIFA22) and Aditya Verma (SFV) will take part in the singles title Hearthstone, FIFA22, Street Fighter V with 13, 60 and 16 athletes respectively. Birth in their own Asian Games.
