Monte Carlo Masters Result – Stefanos Sitsipas loses to Diego Schwartzman: Earlier, Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina reached his first Masters semifinal by defeating American Taylor Fritz 2-6 6-4 6-3 and will face Bulgarian Gregor Dimitrov.
In the final match of the day, Xavier and Cena gave Carlo Country Club spectators a fierce confrontation in Monte. A terrific serve from Sinar gave Zaverev a 3-1 break but the Germans failed to hold on and the Italians bounced back before backing the opening set.

After the first trade of the break in the second set, Zverev took a medical timeout and the physiotherapist gave him a pill. This had the desired effect on the Germans as they were seen to move more freely to claim the set.
The Italians were then seen to be interrupted by a thigh strain and Zverev went to the break 2-1 in the deciding set. Although Cena managed to level the set, he made a tragic double fault to give Zverev a 4-3 lead.
In another twist, Cena forced a 5-5 comeback and a tiebreak but he could not cross the finish line, giving Zaverev the seal of victory in his first match point.

It looked like Sitsipas’ match against Schwartzman would be like a walk in the park for the Greeks. He went fast 6-2 5-2 and suddenly lost his morale in spectacular fashion.
Schwartzman, a claycourt expert, forced a tiebreak, which he gave, and Seatsipas, who seemed to have lost, was punished for a foot error. In the third set, he trailed 4-0 but won the remaining six games and wrapped it up in the second match point.
