- Zaverev, 24, has struggled with inconsistent performances on the hard court this year.
- His best performance came at the Open Sud de France in Mexico, where he lost in a straight set to Alexander Bublik in the final and was runner-up.
- He was also disqualified from the Mexican Open after being knocked out in the first round at Indian Wells and losing his doubles match and violently breaking his racket in the umpire’s chair.
- He entered the Monte Carlo Masters after exiting the quarter-finals in Miami.
- In Monte Carlo, in the first two rounds, he won straight sets, winning against Federico Delbonis and Pablo Carreā§o Busta.
- He was tested by Cena in the quarter-finals and almost lost the game before biting the nail in the final set tie-breaker.

- Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Sitsipas has had a good season so far, coming close to winning titles on many occasions.
- His best result so far in 2022 is reaching the ATP Rotterdam final in February, where he lost in a straight set to Felix Agar Aliasim. He has appeared in two semifinals and one quarterfinal this year.
- At the Monte Carlo Carlo Masters, like Xavier, he won his first two straight games after getting a bye in the first round.
- In the quarter-finals, against Schwartzman, he won the first set, before losing the second set in a tie-breaker, and had to win the third set to advance to the semifinals.

Xavier vs. Citcipus Head to Head: This will be the 10th meeting between the two players and the Citcipus head-to-head record is ahead 6-3.
