- The undefeated Fokina made headlines earlier this week after beating world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
- The Spaniard won the first set and won the game in an almost straight set, winning the tie-breaker to take the game to the third set before a fight from the Serbs.
- In the deciding match, Fokina again showed dominance as she dropped just one game to win the set.
- Before facing Djokovic, he started the tournament with a straight set victory over Marcos Giron. In the third round, he defeated David Goffin in a straight game.
- Before this year’s Monte Carlo Masters, Fokina’s all-time best performance was in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open.
- Apart from that he has endured a fairly bad run on the hard court this year, facing six first-round knockouts.
After winning the quarter-finals, Fokina said: “I am just happy to be in the semifinals. Last year I was in the quarterfinals and retired. The passion to go to the semifinals is much higher. I’m here in Monte Carlo enjoying every game, every point and just doing my job. ”

- Meanwhile, Gregor Dimitrov started the Carlo Masters in Monte after a walkover by Nicolas Basilashvili in a game where Dimitrov led 6-3, 2-0.
- He then had to play a three-setter to win against Dusan Lajovic in the second round. In the third round, he defeated fourth-seeded Caspar Rudd 6-3, 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals.
- Against Hurcage, the game stretched to a tie-breaker in the third set and Dimitrov kept his cool and won 7-2 to advance to the semifinals.
- His all-time best performance this year came in the season opener at the Melbourne Summer Set, where he reached the semifinals and lost to Maxim Cressi in the straight set.

Fokina vs. Dimitrov Head to Head: This will be the second contest between the two players where Fokina won their previous fight. They last met in the 2021 ATP Rome Masters, beating Fokina 6-4, 7-6.
Already showing her great form in the tournament, 22-year-old Fokina has entered the competition as a favorite. However, Dimitrov has outperformed his opponents so far this year and will be looking to fight it when both players take to the court on Saturday.
