Shreyas Iyer scored his first half-century of the season, scoring 54 off 33 balls against his former team. When he wanted to grow up chasing 216 runs, he got out with a great stumping by Rishabh Pant in the hands of Kuldeep Yadav. KKR captain Kuldeep Yadav was the first victim to take three more wickets back in the 4/34 figures.
He took three wickets for the Delhi Capitals in his last over, dismissing Pat Cummins, Sunil Narne and Umesh Yadav. With his four wickets, he is equal to Umesh Yadav in the purple cap leaderboard with 10 wickets in the season.

Through his performances, he has taken a perfect revenge against his former team, for which he has played only 14 games in the last three editions. Kuldeep Yadav, who has played 45 matches for KKR, was dropped from the team after the rise of Varun Chakraborty. With Sunil Narine already in the playing XI, KKR was pushed to a position where they could choose either Kuldeep or Chakraborty. The latter was allowed to go and Kuldeep, who was with the Indian team, was left to warm the bench. The franchise released him earlier this season.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, who has led the Delhi franchise for two and a half seasons, has suffered a shoulder injury and had an operation just before IPL 2021. He missed the first half of the IPL and Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain. However, despite returning to the second half of the IPL, he was not given the captaincy and was dropped from the franchise before this year’s auction.
KKR bought Shreyas Iyer at auction for Rs 12.25 crore and eventually they made him captain. However, Kuldeep was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore.
