The move comes with the 2028 Olympics in mind, as cricket could be featured in the Summer Games, which will be held for six consecutive years.

The cricket venue will be built on 15 acres of land.
“Our investment in MLC in the United States is based on our belief in the exciting future of cricket in the United States and is consistent with our strategy to establish the Knight Riders as a global brand in T20 cricket.” Bollywood superstar and co-owner of KRG Shah Rukh Khan said in a statement.
KRG, which owns Kolkata Knight Riders and Trinbago Knight Riders, is a founding investor in MLC.
“The plan to build a world-class cricket stadium in the greater Los Angeles area is exciting for us and the MLC. It will undoubtedly have a transformative effect on one of the world’s most iconic metropolitan areas. “ He added.
The development will see a multi-million dollar investment and internationally renowned architect HKS will design an iconic home for sports in the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, the release added.

The stadium’s plans include state-of-the-art training facilities, locker rooms, luxurious suites, dedicated parking, discounts, field lighting and an international-grade pitch to meet International Cricket Council standards.
USA Cricket is expected to bid for future men’s and women’s World Cups, with the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup already co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies.
The ICC is also bidding to include cricket in the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles, and if successful, the Great Park Stadium is expected to be the centerpiece of the Southern California event.
