The Lucknow Super Giants have been fined for maintaining slow over rate in their Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium – CCI, Mumbai on Saturday. The BCCI said in a statement.

However, since this is his first slow over-rate offense, he will be fined only Rs 12 lakh. Penalties for repeated offenses will be doubled and a third time a match will be suspended. Rohit Sharma has already been fined Rs 24 lakh and a slow over-rate away from suspension.

“Since this was the team’s first offense of the season under the Code of Conduct for offenses related to the IPL’s minimum over-rate offense, captain KL Rahul was fined Rs 12 lakh,” he said. The BCCI added in the statement.

For the match, KL Rahul’s unbeaten 103 helped the Lucknow Super Giants to a comfortable 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2022 match at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.

It was Mumbai Indians’ sixth consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League 2022 while for the newcomer Lucknow Super Giants, it was their fourth win of the season. Captain KL Rahul’s ton was with Manish Pandey’s 38 as Lucknow gave Mumbai a target of 200 runs. For the MI bowlers, Joydev Unadkat took two wickets and Murugan Ashwin and Fabian Allen took one wicket each.

Chasing 200, the Mumbai Indians got off to a good start, scoring 57 runs for the loss of two wickets in the first six overs. However, in the third over, Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma was removed by Avesh Khan. With a slow run, Dwight Braves took matters into his own hands as he and Ishan Kishan scored 20 in the last over of the powerplay.
