Both teams started the offensive game. Within seconds of the start of the game, India had the first chance to find the net but the striker hit the post wide. The blue girls dominated the process and won penalty corners but failed to score from the opportunity.
With three minutes left in the first quarter, Dutch striker Bitsma pulled the first blood to the net. Within a minute, they quickly scored another goal into the net but it was considered illegal because it was made from behind the stick.
Even in the second quarter, India continued to put pressure on the Dutch defense, they penetrated well into their opponent’s half, but the final touch was missing from the Indians. The Dutch, meanwhile, had two penalty corners but one was blown away and the other was well saved by India. With no goals in the second quarter, the players went to the break in the first half 1-0 for the Netherlands.
In the third half, India went out of steam and gave the Dutch several chances, but the strikers missed the last pass several times for failing to score. With no goals in the two quarters, the Netherlands made a good comeback and Luna Foque eventually led the Indian goalkeeper 2-0.
Within minutes, they jumped on another chance and converted a great pass from the left side of the jeep to the net to block the final nail in the coffin of the match. They will now face the winner of the summit battle between England and Germany on Tuesday 12 April. India, meanwhile, will face the losers in a bronze medal match.
