Fourth-seeded Sindhu will face Singapore’s Jasleen Hui and Saina Nehwal will play against China’s Wang Jie. Meanwhile, Srikanth will face Weng Hongyang of China.

World No. 7 PV Sindhu was knocked out in his first round by Chinese Taipei’s Pi Yu Po. Sindhu lost the first set and was looking to lose after trailing 17-20 in the second set. However he made a great comeback and won the set 27-25 and then defeated his opponent 21-9 in the third set. He will look for a better performance in his upcoming competition.
Meanwhile, Jasleen Hui entered the competition by defeating Lee Seo-jin of South Korea 21-18, 21-10 in straight sets. Hooi has been knocked out of the first two rounds of the Korea Open and Korea Masters this year but has seen good touch in the previous game and would expect a strong performance against Sindhu. Sindhu, however, entered the match as a favorite.

Saina Nehwal [IND] Vs. Wang Zhii [CHN]
The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, who was dropped from the Indian squad for the Thomas and Uber Cup, as well as the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, won India’s first match in the singles division at the Asian Championships after defeating South Korea’s Sim Yu-Jin 21-15, 17-21. 21-13.
Meanwhile, Wang Zhiyi defeated seventh seed Busanan Ongbumrangfan of Thailand 12-21, 21-15, 21-15 in the first round. Saina and Wang Jie will both face each other for the second time in their careers. The last time they met was when the Chinese won the competition at the New Zealand Open in 2019.

Kidambi Srikanth [IND] Vs. Weng Hongyang [CHN]
Kidambi Srikanth will face Chinese qualifier Weng Hongyang in the second round of the Asian Championships. Srikanth defeated NG J Young of Malaysia 22-21, 21-15 in the first round. Srikanth has yet to win his first title this year and his seventh title is about to end his title drought.
Meanwhile, Weng Hong Young defeated Jason Teh of Singapore 22-20, 21-17 in the first round to fight Srikanth. This will be the first meeting between the two players.
