IPL 2022: BCCI / IPL has a set protocol – BCCI and IPL have made specific rules for Covid-19. Teams affected by the deadly virus will go through regular tests and only if they are unable to field 11 players (at least 7 Indians) + 1, match rescheduling is considered.

The rules clearly state that the match will go ahead with the players in the squad. There are about 24 players in 10 franchises. The match is canceled or postponed only if they cannot field 11 first-choice players or backups.

IPL 2022: What do the new IPL rules say?

  • With 11 players + 1 alternate fielder the match can go ahead.
  • DC currently has 24 players and 7 foreign players
  • If not rescheduled, the matter will be referred to the IPL Technical Committee.
  • The IPL technical committee can allocate two points to PBKS.
  • Currently, all DC players, including Mitchell Marsh, have tested negative in their first round RT-PCR test. The match will continue if their test is negative in two more rounds.

IPL 2022: DC Physio Patrick Farhart Covid tested positive – The first positive case in the DC team came when physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for COVID-19 before the team’s match against RCB. The game against RCB was on schedule as all the other DC members returned negative. DC got a push though Mitchell Marsh came back positive.
