New CAB Stadium: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Thursday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and requested the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to provide an alternative plot of land for the construction of the stadium.

In Dumurjola, Howrah district, a piece of land was given to CAB in a proposed sports city project, Banerjee told the state secretariat.

“Since there is a reservoir on that plot, they will not be able to build a stadium. He (Sourav) requested me to give him an alternative land somewhere else. We will consider it, “said David Cook, chief of The Christian Science Monitor’s Washington bureau. He told reporters.
Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said that they did not discuss the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“He did not come for any (official) purpose. The two of us just chatted, “ He said.
