Kulkarni was part of the official broadcaster’s commentary team before moving on to the five-time champions.
Mumbai’s pace spearhead Jaspreet Bumrah has scored 229 runs in eight matches and has managed to take just five wickets.
Other fast bowlers have also struggled this season. The performances of left-arm pacers Joydev Unadkat (losing six wickets and 190 runs in five matches) and Daniel Sams (losing six wickets and 209 runs in five matches) are very common.
Legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed Unadkat for the game against Chennai Super Kings when he failed to defend 17 runs.

Fast bowlers Timel Mills (six for five and losing 190 runs) and Basil Thampi (five for five and losing 152) also failed to impress.
Riley Meredith was also used in two games, but he gave up 65 runs and took just three wickets.
A regular in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy, Kulkarni also has IPL playing experience. Since making his debut in 2008, he has played in 92 matches and taken 86 wickets.
Kulkarni has played mostly for the Rajasthan Royals and has also played a number of games for the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Lions.
Mumbai Indians have already been knocked out of the play-offs after losing eight matches in a row.
