Premier League: Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel’s blot message to rivals Manchester United, we don’t need ‘open heart surgery’ – Thomas Tuchel believes that Ralph Rangnik will only need a “facelift” for Chelsea’s subsequent success as Thursday’s rivals Manchester United will have to undergo “open heart surgery”. At Old Trafford, Tuchel’s side are looking to solidify their third-place finish in the Premier League, where sixth-placed United look set to miss out on a top-four finish.
United interim boss Ranganik fears Ajax coach Eric Ten Hagg, who will take over at Old Trafford from the end of this season, will need to significantly improve his squad to make the club more competitive.

In contrast, Tuchel is confident that Chelsea’s requirements go deeper, despite an inconsistent season that left the club for sale after Russian owner Roman Abramovich was banned by the British government after the Ukraine invasion.
Still waiting for the sale to end, Tuchel has potentially lost ground to Chelsea’s rivals when it comes to signing up after the transfer window reopens.
Antonio Rudigar is expected to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, while fellow center-back Andreas Christensen is expected to move to Barcelona.
Asked what Chelsea needed this summer in light of Rangnik’s heart surgery comments, Tuchel replied: “Cosmetic surgery. I would be less concerned if we still have the same ownership if we can rely on our structure.
“Since this is also questionable, we are not concerned, but we are aware of the danger that the situation could be a bit complicated.
“And it can be complicated enough if you lose a player like Tony, and maybe you lose another player like Andreas with quality and both are free.
“Everything else is in place, but it can be quite a demand. So in this question it could be a very, very demanding summer.
“I don’t know if surgery is the right word for it but I just want to be positive about it and stick to the things that can affect us.”
