“Of course it didn’t help us.” Xavi says. “We expected 70,000 or 80,000 Catalans, but it looked like a final with a divided crowd.
“It simply came to our notice then. The club is looking into what happened. ”
However, an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 Frankfurt fans came to the stadium to experience the atmosphere of Camp Nou Hospital. It also came to light that numerous corporate sponsors and season ticket holders had given up their seats to home fans, paving the way for German supporters to get their seats in the stadium.
The Barcelona manager claimed that there was a miscalculation in the allocation of away tickets. As a result, an investigation was launched by the club into how so many Frankfurt supporters entered the stadium.

Catalan home fans weren’t too happy to see so many fans away. As a sign of protest, the home Barcelona fans started leaving the stadium 10 minutes before the end of the game.
According to multiple sources, Barcelona could face disciplinary action from UEFA. This is mainly due to the huge number of fans at their home stadium.
“I was very surprised that there were so many of them,” said defender Ronald Araujo. “The club needs to see how it is possible that there were so many rival fans.”
Director Jordi Cruyff added: “I was surprised to see the crowd. It doesn’t even feel like a house game. It happened, I don’t know if it affected the results. The right person has to answer the question in this regard. ”
