Washington Sundar split his thumb and forefinger while fielding against the Gujarat Titans on 11 April. Head coach Tom Moody later made it clear he would miss at least a week to recover from the injury.
“Washington has torn the net between the thumb and forefinger of his right hand. We have to observe it in the next two-three days. Hopefully, this is not a significant push. I imagine it will probably take a week or so to settle down, “said David Cook, chief of The Christian Science Monitor’s Washington bureau. Tom Moody said after the GT match.
This is a big shock for those who are on the way back to SRH. Ken Williamson & Co bounced back with two wins in a row after losing the first two matches. Sundar has played a key role in that resurgence and SRH has to rely on a misfiring Abdul Samad.

- He was dropped after being held for Rs 4 crore in two games.
- He is returning with the injured Washington Sundar.
- SRH also has Shreyas Gopal in its arsenal and besides being a leg-spinner he can be a valuable addition considering him as an excellent batsman.
- SRH bought him from the auction for Rs 75 lakh and in the absence of Sundar could strengthen SRH’s spin attack as Samad is not considered among the reliable spinners.
For other positions, SRH finally found a balance with Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson firing while T Natarajan was leading the pace attack with a deadly yorker.
