Government cuts funding for Indian football team by about 85% – AIFF officials sought funding at least three times within the approved budget, though the Ministry of Sports and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) were not convinced. The AIFF’s claims were considered unimportant because the federation’s development work left much to be desired, highlighting the inability of age-groups to make their presence felt at the continental level and a women’s football program that lacked structure.
